With the photobook “The Araki Effect”, Italian publisher Skira presents a comprehensive and carefully created retrospective of the entire career of Nobuyoshi Araki, one of the most famous contemporary Japanese photographers of the postwar era.

Beginning with Araki’s first series “Satchin and His Brother Mabo” from the mid-1960s, “The Araki Effect” offers readers a broad overview of Araki’s milestone works in 300 images, up until the “Araki’s Paradise” series from 2019: Subway to Love, Autumn in Tokyo, Sentimental Night in Kyoto, Balcony of Love, Kinbaku, Death Reality, Tokyo Summer Story, The 60th Year After the End of the War, August, Anniversary of Hokusai’s Death (part of the Tokyo Diary series), and Gloves.
