"I wanted to capture the honesty of the landscape, Palm Springs is one of those rare places in America where the architecture fits very empathetically into the landscape in terms of design and scale - well the old stuff anyway. I was very much into Hopper at the time, still am in a way. I like how he cuts up a 3d object and how he is very considerate in how he appropriates it for a flat 2d surface. I remember running around shooting the suburbs and down town and thinking keep the light, back 3 quarter."
