A collection of snapshots taken in various parts of Tokyo between 1985 and 1990.
I can tell you that I am reluctant to walk around a town where I have visited already. I wouldn't be if I had stayed away for a long period of time. Somehow I basically don't like to go to the same place day after day. I leave the train at unfamiliar station.
Feeling nervous, I step into town. A crowd of people. An abundance of sunshine. All I can do is just walking until sunset.
Without a lot of energy. I can't take good pictures on the city street. I have to use my entire body to wach people. It's hard to keep going and I become depressed easily. Sometimes I can control myself and continue taking pictures but usually I take a break to feel refreshed. Then I go back to the street. Walking rhythmically, I regain my concentration and feel another burst of energy coming to me. I can recognize order where before I saw only a messy street.
Now I have realized that I was not watching people but was watching myself.
