This book originated from a roll of Orwo film forgotten in an old camera from the former East Germany. Once developed, a few fragile images emerged, remnants of a family celebration in the late 1980s.
Among them, only one has been preserved: that of a couple kissing, frozen in a suspended moment.
The other photographs were taken during a trip to the island of Rügen, bordered by the Baltic Sea.
They sketch a possible setting, a silent theater for this silent story, and attempt to imagine the life of this couple on the eve of the great upheavals that their country was about to experience.
