Created in 1977 by Nicole Wisniak, Egoïste gathers photographs, and texts by various artists and thinkers of its time. The ads for famous luxury brands were created specially for the magazine. On the cover, there is a portrait of Richard Avedon. This issue includes an extract of its portfolio "In the American West" as well as photographs by Helmut Newton or Bettina Rheims. It includes, also, texts by Françoise Sagan or Jean d'Ormesson.
The last issue published until now was the number 18 in 2018.
